Last weekend we took a micro vacation. We went to Monterey to see Micro's Grandpa and go to the Aquarium. This year Micro really got to enjoy the aquarium. Last year he enjoyed it, but in a much different way. We had such a wonderful time and although it was just a two day "vacation" it felt like a much needed renewal of inspiration.

Today I would love to be traveling in an exotic land, eating local food and seeing the wonders of the world.

sometimes
I love road trips! I love getting the car packed and setting off for a destination. I also love looking at things. I am by nature a very observant person. Brian often makes fun of me as I rapid fire questions off to him as we wiz by things I have never seen before.
This building was one of those things. I first spotted it a few years ago when we stored our Trailer (yes we lived in a trailer for a few summers, but thats another story) in Verdi Nevada. We drove by at a quick clip and I caught a glimpse of it. A few weeks ago as we were heading back from Reno I took the Verdi exit and went looking for the building that had peaked my curiosity. We found it, and it was so much better then I remembered it to be. What an amazing piece of history this place must be! "What was it?, who owns it, and what does it look like inside? Have they re-done the inside since it was built?" So again I rapid fired questions to my beloved. This picture shows only a tid bit of the grandeur of this building. I think I will HAVE TO do another photo shoot!

riding through the sky
Last week on our trip we stopped by the Santa Cruz Beach Board walk and took a stroll. It occurred to me that the sky chairs are SOOO much more fun looking then ski lifts, and they have little roofs. Wouldn't it be fun to ride up the mountain on a whimsical chair!

We had two perfect days in Santa Cruz. We saw and heard the sea lions, spent time with friends, and went to the Beach Board walk!
Yeah for wee vacations!

yosemite from a different lens
As I have already suggested, our trip to Yosemite was an adventure! It rained the whole time and both B and My families were there. One thing I made sure to tell everyone prior to arriving in the valley was that since it was sooo late in the season there would be NO water falling from Yosemite Falls or Bridalveil Falls. However, after the torrential downpour that we experienced, there was water coming down the falls after all (check out pic). This was an amazing sight to see so late in the season. The morning we were departing the sun poked out for a few minutes and showed the valley in all Her Fall colors.

I am determined to visit the Valley in the Winter this year. I can't wait to see Her in a blanket of white snow.
The above photos were taken by my brother inlaw and his dad. The cat took a few attempts and then... perfection!

Under the sea
Last week we all went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It was so much fun. Orland seemed to really enjoy looking at all the movement and colors. I can't wait to bring him back when he is a wee bit bigger.

whoowee what a week...
We had a perfect week away. It rained non-stop in Yosemite. The thunder bounced off the granite walls, and the lightning lit up the whole sky. The food was Delicious, socks were wet, spirits were high and I think it is safe to say it was an adventure.
We had almost a whole week away and we had many adventures. Orland met his grandpa (on my side) for the first time, we went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and met the New Magee.
Photos to follow.
oh and NO we did not get to use the above apparatus... maybe soon.
