family time

With the current lack of snow we have had a few opportunities to get outside as a family. This beautiful spot is just a hop skip and a jump from our house so we snuck down there just before sunset.

let it snow... Please

I am not one to complain about the weather... so I am not complaining, I am just noticing that we really really really need snow. I guess since we had snow all the way into June this year I shouldn't really be that shocked that winter is pushed a bit back.

The ice skating has been amazing on all the small lakes! and people are still biking! Its JUNUARY up here in the mountains. Put on your bikini and come on up!

harvest time

Last weekend we went down the hill to a fruit harvesting and barn party. We got to pick our own manderins and take a tracter ride. Micro loved chasing chickens, eating fruit off the tree and matching all the changing leaves!

I got an amazing opportunity to go fishing on Lake Tahoe last week. We were on the lake before sun rise. This is what we were met with just after the first fish was caught. Magnificent!

Summer

The days are passing so quickly, I can't believe it is past the middle of August already. Ah summer where have you gone...?

It is officially summer. The sun has been kissing our skin and the wind has been teasing the pollen off the trees.
I have been smiling and sneezing.

Micro & Papa have been enjoying a lot of time together.

I am happy to say that the sun has finally shown its face and we are officially starting summer here in the mountains. The Little farm at the end of my street is really starting to come alive! The Farmers Market started this week and Papa is off for the summer starting next Wednesday... YIPPIE!!

Snow?...and first Train Ride!

We took a family day to lower and warmer ground yesterday after we woke up to 6" of new snow. Is it really almost June? Papa and Micro took a train ride that I missed while lost in the evil clutches of anthropologie.

Sharing

With the "nicer" (meaning not snowing but not yet 50 degrees) weather comes a little more outside time. This picture was snapped last monday, since then it has snowed and been incredibly cold. Not complaining... just saying I might like to be in Hawaii just about now.

Micro loves exploring outside, he finds the absolute tiniest things to share with me. It melts my heart.

Let it SNOW

We are going on 700 hundred inches of snow this year already. This is an old photo of Orland, it is dumping too hard to get a current one of him in this beautiful fluffy white stuff.

how to use time

We are under a wintery blanket of white up here in the mountains. You know there has been a lot of snow when you have a cornice this size billowing off your roof. Papa has had the week off so I have had time to sew and he has been enjoying some serious skiing.

Its amazing how productive you can be when you have little to no time to sew and then suddenly a window opens up.

score...again

OK I am sorry but I have to say, I love Reno! Thrifts stores that is. There was some wild weather this week that kept me sort of house and store bound. Well the weather and the need for things in my shop. So when Brian got home at 6:30 the other night we quickly got ready and went to Reno. Arriving 7:22 at Goodwill we were serious and determined.

I jumped out of the car before it was off. Brian got the micro man out of the car and we had a plan. I went straight to the women's sweaters, Brian to the men's. In roughly 15 minutes we were both laden down with wool and cashmere sweaters. 42 to be exact. With just a few minutes to spare we went looking for others things we "needed."

10 minutes later we found:

1. An Amazing wagon full of wooden blocks (are you kidding me this is exactly what I have been wanting/ making for the last few months.)
2. A great little drum for Micro

3. and various other un-photographed baby camouflage outfits, one of which says "buck hunter in training." No big deal, Noah we know you are jealous.

In just 38 minutes we managed to SCORE big time... again!

Something magical happens here in the mountains. The sunset is reflected! I don't know what this is called... alpenglow?, reflected sunset, Magic!

the weekend

This weekend was filled to say the least. The highlight was saturday when Orland got to hangout with his buddy Townes while the adults helped thin the forrest. The two boys are 6 hours apart in age, thankfully they both got their own day!

With over 100 inches of snow on the tippy-tops of our mountains, this season is off to a beautiful start. Orland got a new hat to keep the tippy-top of his head warm. Yippie!

Orland is on his second nap for the day, Papa is out skiing the snow, and I am hurriedly getting sewing done. Yippie!
